I am looking it up now [She might be mayor but there are thousands of stupid bye-laws in this city that former mayors have made and no one has bothered to retract. Retracting laws is hard.]
Ah here, "under article five hundred and twenty six, section B; No pornography or scenes of an adult nature using or referencing puppets, puppetry or any variation thereof is permitted to be bought, sold or consumed within the bounds of Rakuen City."
Dunleavy blinked, some of these old laws were very precise.
[Clicks back] Section A: The collective number of puppets within the bounds of Rakuen city may not exceed one hundred and the amount of puppets one citizen can own may not exceed twenty, without a valid puppet license. [She looked up] This law has been altered many times, the numbers getting higher each time.
[She looks back at the computer] Section C states that: No puppets or variations thereof may be taken, smuggled, thrown into, catapulted into or otherwise find their way into the grounds of the Mayors mansion.
[ Oh. That could be a problem. The first one, anyway. He has absolutely no intention of doing that second thing. ] Hypothetically, what's the punishment for owning more than twenty puppets without a valid puppet license?
Ein comes in with 43 raks. (He'd have 46, but he spent a few at the afterparty last IC-week.)
He sells Lemina's memory of people not being able to breathe underwater (because the Catastrophe ring is enough to remember her by, and if not even angels can breathe underwater then it's pretty much a given that humans can't, and somehow he thinks Lemina would have approved) and buys two upgrade rings and a PDA with audio/video upgrade, leaving him with 8.
[Dunleavy raised an eyebrow and clicked on the computer a little more.] Very severe, a two hundred rak fine and loss of all privileges... which pretty much means you would be an eternal discard, regardless of Player or owned Weapon status.
[She keeps her face straight but she is quite shocked, this mayor must have really hated puppets. She makes a note to go further into the system later and learn the reasoning behind this law.]
"Indeed, likewise Dirk." She nodded at him as he left. She suspected he had probably broken that law but seeing as she had just learned of it she would give him time to fix his ways, she didn't want the chaos of a two hundred rak fine if she could help it...
[It's your favorite customer! He's back for buying more stuff.]

Jack gives 15 raks to Aly so she can buy him an upgrade ring, he leaves with 5. The shopkeeper that day probably hates him because he bitched the whole time about how he can't even buy his own shit.
