Images flashed through Dunleavy's mind and she did her best to ignore them. She placed the first one in a box, labling it with Yuka's name and then took the second one. "There, if you wish to buy them back in the future you can do." She left it to Recette to do the actual sale.
Yuka shook her head. "I just want to forget about them. The way that person thinks is just... strange." That was something of an understatement. The first charm had shown a world alien to her own, but an understandable viewpoint. But these two were the reverse - an ordinary world, viewed through the lens of a person whose actions made no sense.
It actually wasn't Recette behind the counter but a taller woman who Aria would recognise as the one who had meted out justice in the last rounds assembly.
Today she didn't look half as stern as she had then, she gave Aria a warm smile. "Can I help you?"
"I hope so. I heard of something called 'candy' in passing. I heard it's really good and sweet. Would you by chance have any I could buy? I want Yuka to try it too, so I thought we might try it together."
Aria patiently waited for a reply, making sure her face didn't betray her expectation of being denied.
Dunleavy smiled at her, "Yes, Recette is very fond of candy, she has a large selection." She moved through the shop to the very large bowl of mixed sweets. "I can make you up a bag with a mix of everything for two raks."
"Well, I usually went over to Lisa's with Cecily. She had the most amazing cooking, and she seemed to love in, even though she was always working so hard all the time. I never really thought about the other kinds of foods available." Aria marveled at the sight of all those strangely shaped foods going into the bag.
"Well I'm sure when Recette is awake she will happily introduce you to all sorts of sweets. What is your favourite food, I've been learning to cook and can't keep pushing my concoctions on Dolorosa and Nanami forever." She smiled, she enjoyed getting to know the students even if most of them intrinsically mistrusted her.
"I don't think I have a favorite food - I've loved pretty much everything I've tried. If you want a second opinion of your "concoctions", I'd love to accommodate you.
Aria couldn't hate Dunleavy. It was natural for a misdeed to be punished. Where she came from, she was used to the atrocities of battle. What she witnessed on the stage was tame in comparison.
Dunleavy smiled at her, it was nice when she came across people who didn't dislike her, she didn't like being disliked. She didn't like punishing people either but it had to be done, they had to learn, she couldn't let them fail.
Yuka buys a memory charm, a pda upgrade, and two power rings. (And isn't that a coincidence.) Oh, and more tea. (But I've been just marking off one per week as I go without specifically mentioning it.)
Starting with 85 raks (plus anything from the trip other than the usual 3 per battle, which I'd better ask about, huh?) and now has 4 + whatever.
