[ He sets the pouch down on the counter to pay, and pulls another one out of his pocket. A smaller one, this time, containing 36 abominations of spacetime. ]
Do you even have anything that costs a complex number of raks? [ It's not that he has any problem with the fact that they exist. It's that he's getting tired of keeping track of them. ]
[Alex looks exhausted already by asking, but instead of repeating it,] A-A list w-would be e-easier.... [He types it out on his PDA in record time and hands it to her.] I-is that m-maybe b-better?
[ Much. ] Yep, sure is. Let me see... [ checking the stock takes just a little longer than his typing, but she looks up with a smile afterwards. ] Yay, we have all of that! It'll be 94 raks. Are you gonna pay for it now?
[Alex coughed a bit at the price.] A-And without the CDs...? [He didn't have quite that much. He was pretty sure there were other tricks he could pull to gain money quick, but he wasn't a big fan of cheating.] Y-You c-can't put it on a t-tab or s-something, c-can you?
Yuka entered the shop and began looking around. It gave her a bit of the same feeling as the Kourindou back home.
Except more open.
Better lighting.
Cleaner too.
... Okay, so it wasn't much like the Kourindou after all. But both had a pleasantly homey feel that appealed to her. And this place could boast a similarly eclectic selection of merchandise. Strange electronic devices that looked like they could rival some of the Kappas' best, rings like the ones Cirno had shown her and other (strangely familiar) jewelry, different kinds of fertilizer... And those were just a few of the things that stood out and that Yuka could recognize.
Still, while she could probably spend quite a while looking around in here, today she had a particular mission. If she was going to be engaging in regular battles with various people, there was one thing she absolutely needed to have.
Tea.
With that goal in mind, she stepped up to the counter. "Excuse me? Miss shopkeeper?"
"Hi-ho, good afternoon!" Recette had been rifling through the counter drawers, so by the time she'd stuck her head up and realised it was a stranger, it was too late.
Good thing she didn't really notice stuff like that. "What can I get you?"
"I need a portable tea set... Well, really just the cups, but they need to be durable. A thermos... not too large, enough for 8 servings would be good. And some tea, of course."
Yuka glanced around the shop again. "I don't know if you carry that sort of thing, but... somehow, when I look around, it feels worth trying."
The first is...could I work here? As a part-time job on the weekends?
[ LOOK AT THAT FACE 0n0 ] I have one at the flower shop, but it's lonely being all by myself. I thought it might be fun to work here, if you need someone...
And the second is, I need to buy something kinda big.
[Alex hands over 40 Raks] Let's s-start w-with that. [He smiles at her, then remembers the other thing he wanted to show Recette. He opens his game stats program on the PDA,]
I-I also w-wanted to o-offer this! It's th-that program I offered a wh-while back to beta! I f-finished it, w-well, enough to offer it. I c-can remotely update it now t-too, f-for bug fixes, n-new features, th-things like that! C-can you offer it as an u-upgrade?
